When Zebby and Amr create the website thetruthabouttruman.com, they want it to be honest. They want it to be about the real Truman Middle School, to say things that the school newspaper would never say. Teens Read
This sends a good message, but I thought it would send it in a different way. I love how all the middle schoolers say mean stuff about people on the internet, but when it comes face to face they can't say anything. It was still a good book though.
It's so true how a person can send something to someone on line, but barely say anything to them face-to-face. I've been in that situation before, and that person has said plenty of mean things to me online, but she feels super awkward around me in person. It's sad that their website had to turn into something totally different and wrong, though, because all they wanted was something that was interesting yet educational, and while what the students were posting was interesting, it wasn't at all educational.
I cannot fathom how people can write something mean to someone online but not say it to their face. Is that a difference in the way people are raised today or the technology with which you are raised? I just don't understand. How do people react when they see the person they were mean to online?
Oh, my, this book. I cannot wait to see the movie! Of course I know that the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, but I have a feeling about this one.
You probably do not know that I have an obsession with 90's music, but it's true, I do. It was cool to feel connected to a character that finally feels somewhat like me that way, just so into music. Charlie's also very much into literature, which I know you know I enjoy to a great extent.
Charlie is a very mentally-distressed person. He knows this, too, but he doesn't seem to understand why, and he's desperate for someone to tell him what sets him apart from others. While he's going through this crisis, he's also going through high school. Not the best way to spend your days when you feel as if you're going insane.
This book is very true, and written very beautifully. I think it's my favorite. I can also identify with Charlie when he says that the last book he read is his favorite. But this book IS my favorite. At least I hope for a while.
It's really hard to connect with this book because the concept is somewhat heavy and hard to grasp. A wakes up in a different body everyday. BUT A is the same person everyday; they are themself, but they take over a different person everyday and live their life for them. A is sixteen, and every since A was a baby, they have lived like this. A has never thought this was anything other than the ordinary; A thought everyone lived this way. Once A got older, they learned it was better not to make relationships and connect with people because you'll just be ripped away from them. Literally.
I don't really think that A is in a different body to learn things, but to help out others. However, I am not that far in the book (page 106 out of 324), and I think the book is turning so that A uses bodies to A's advantage.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the message and how would you send it? I assume your "I love,,," is sarcasm?

Too bad Jazz isn't here anymore. I would think she would love to talk to you about this book!
