The Maze Runner
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.
Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.
Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

ReplyDeleteI really like this book because the author makes you feel like you are one of the Gladers. I feel bad for the Gladers since they can't remember any thing except their name. I think Thomas is different then all the rest of the Gladers because he doesn't want to give up on trying to find a way out of the maze.It seems like Thomas has been at the Glad for a while now because he knows what to do at times. Also he is very smart and wants to find out all the answers he can possibly get.

I like this book because the author makes you feel like you are part of the book. It's weird how they don't remember anything. One of the Gladers said that every month a new Glader comes and joins. But a day after Thomas was there a girl came and thats never happened before.
ReplyDeleteI like the book because it is thrilling mysterious. The main character Thomas is sent into this mysterious Stone-cold land full of kids between ten and twenty that THRIVE off of the resources there. But they are not alone. MAze runner have to fight of dangerous and creepy monsters that are half Animal and half Machine! Thomas also tries to figure out how these people were sent there....... or WHY they were sent there....
ReplyDeleteI liked the part when Thomas tried to escape the Maze. I think the girl died but I'm not sure if she did or not.
ReplyDeleteI like this book because it is interesting and kind of strange. The strangest parts about it would probably have to be that no one can remember who they used to be and there used to only be guys there. I also like how Thomas tries to find ways out of the Glades and is trying to become a maze runner.
ReplyDeleteWhat is your prediction, Caleb? Where do you think he is? When do you think this story takes place?
DeleteThe book is getting a lot more interesting and Thomas believes there is a way OUT of the Glade. He finds a place where Grievers go and believes that computers down in the spot can reveal a place that they can escape and go back to their homes. Some Gladiers are a little nervous about it and some don't even want to go, because the place where Grievers go, is a hole...at the bottom of a cliff.
ReplyDeleteI think this book would be good to turn into a movie because it has so much action. For characters I think they should use Peeta and Katniss because they would be the best at them roles. The hardest part to recreate would be when thomas and his fellow friends are running throw the Maze. Another hard to recreate would be when Thomas is strapped to a table screaming. An easy part would be when Thomas first steps into the Glade. This book reminds me of the Hunger Games cause most of the problems are the same in both stories.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Robert. You obviously put a lot of thought into answering the questions. Next time, please read through your post before you publish to try and catch some of the mistakes.
DeleteI finally finished the book and personally, this book is amazing! It was really thrilling and I can't wait to read the sequel to the book. The book finally ended when Thomas got into the hole and destroyed the whole entire maze with the push of a button, but then they found Their long lost glader Gally, who was then working with the people who built the maze! They were even able to finally get out of the entire building and the maze period and go to a resort/hotel where people and servants treated them to food and rest.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you liked this book, Ethan. I didn't think you were crazy about it at first, so I am glad it turned out to be a good experience for you!
DeleteI finished this book and I thought it was really good. Thomas and Teresa had an idea that the maze changing was actually a code. They were right and they found out it was to shut the maze down. Thomas also went through the Changing and that gave him old memories back that allowed him to remember the way out of the maze.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is a little slow at the beginning but gets good. My favorite part is when another person shows up and it is a girl the only girl and she has a letter and it is "this is the last one ever". Another one of my favorite parts is when Thomas and Minho get in an argument about climbing the walls and Minho runs away and Thomas tries to climb the vines and they hold. He eventually gets Alby up the wall hanging on vines. Now there going to get Alby out of the vines.
ReplyDeleteAnother name for this book is The Glade. Because it is the main setting not the maze. The old one doesn't explain the main setting.
ReplyDeleteThe maze runner is awsome. Right now they are trying to figure out what the maze code is. So far they got Float, Catch, Bleed, Death, Stiff, and Push. They hadn't figured it out yet.
ReplyDeleteI finished the Death Cure, the third book in the Maze Runner series. It was a really good book. A lot of new things happened since the other two books, for example Thomas and everyone else are on the run from WICKED and they are also trying to take WICKED down. So far I think it was the best book in the Maze Runner series.
ReplyDeleteGreat job reading this quarter, Caleb. You have read a lot in the last few weeks. Good for you! Keep it up throughout your 8th grade year!
