When I first got to Progress, it freaked me out to be locked in a room and unable to get out. But after a while, when you got to thinking about it, you knew nobody could get in, either.
It seems as if the only progress that's going on at Progress juvenile facility is moving from juvy jail to real jail. Reese wants out early, but is he supposed to just sit back and let his friend Toon get jumped? Then Reese gets a second chance when he's picked for the work program at a senior citizens' home. He doesn't mean to keep messing up, but it's not so easy, at Progress or in life. One of the residents, Mr. Hooft, gives him a particularly hard time. If he can convince Mr. Hooft that he's a decent person, not a criminal, maybe he'll be able to convince himself.
Acclaimed author Walter Dean Myers offers an honest story about finding a way to make it without getting lost in the shuffle.

ReplyDeleteThis book was not made into a movie an I would like to see it in a movie, because I think a movie would be better than the book. Not that the book was bad, it just wasn't great.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't put very much thought into this blog, Angel. The question I asked has 6 parts to it. You didn't use anything specific from the book. Everything you said here is very vague. The point of the blog is so that I can tell by what you blog that you are reading and understanding the book. Please put more effort into your blog this week.
DeleteHis problem is that he stored persription papers. He goes to progress and dose not like it there so his trys his best to get out of progress. so he trys to not get in fights and trys to keep his anger down he works in a nercinghome so he can prove to the people at progress that he can get out of progress early.
ReplyDeleteReese's problem is that he stole some prescription pads, and when the guy whole told him where they were got arrested, he ratted everybody he helped out, Including Reese. So Reese gets put in the jail called Progress, he tries getting a second chance in life. The way he solves his problem is by killing time, and waiting until he gets out. He gets into a little trouble though. He gets into two fights, and almost get sent to this worst jail that could get him killed.
ReplyDeleteThe conflict in my boom is that Reese is trying to be good so then he can maybe get out of Progress earlier. Reese gets into two fights and almost got sent to an even worse jail. Reese also tries to get a second chance in life. Dozens of times has he almost been sentenced for more time at Progress. Some people at Progress think that Reese killed someone because they thought he stole prescription drugs. He actually stole the prescription pads for when you get meds they put what you got that day.
ReplyDeleteI recommend because i like the way he acts at the end of the book.I like the way he wants to take of his sister and get in to a college.I like the way he dose not flow what his mom dose he dose not do drugs like his mom and has seen her do that sense he was little. I LIKE THE WAY EXPLAINS HIS LIFE.
ReplyDeleteThis book is about a kid named Reese. He's in a prison called Progress. He's in prison because, he stole prescription medicine & sold it on a black market. He's working at Evergreen. Evergreen's an assisted living facility where if Reese is good durning work helping elderly people he's another step closer to getting out of jail. There is a kid that the inmates call Toon because he looks like he's from a cartoon. There is a new inmate Reese calls King Kong because he's huge. King Kong keeps reiterating Reese. Reese is friends with Toon. King Kong and some other inmates are planning to attack Toon and while they're beating up Toon he's on his hands and knees and then as King Kong backs up to get a running start to kick him Reese trips King Kong. They got in a fight and now are in detention rooms alone then moved to the same room to learn to get along with each other. That's as far as i'm in this book. I like this book so far!
