Leviathan

It is the cusp of World War I. The Austro-Hungarians and Germans have their Clankers, steam-driven iron machines loaded with guns and ammunition. The British Darwinists employ genetically fabricated animals as their weaponry. TheirLeviathan is a whale airship, and the most masterful beast in the British fleet.
Aleksandar Ferdinand, a Clanker, and Deryn Sharp, a Darwinist, are on opposite sides of the war. But their paths cross in the most unexpected way, taking them both aboard the Leviathan on a fantastical, around-the-world adventure….One that will change both their lives forever.

  1. I think Leviathan is a very well-written book and think the author has some very clever ideas with Deryn joining the Navy.

    1. Can you give an example of some text that you think is well-written, Trent?

  2. I like the part where she first boards the Leviathan and meets all of her fellow midshipmen that accompany her in her travels in the Navy.

    1. Who is "she", Trent? I haven't read this book so I don't know who you are talking about. Is that the main character? What do you like about this part?

  4. the conflict that has to be solved is that Alek has to stay hidden will his uncle is still alive or he might be killed. Deryn has to keep her secret and still keep from being shot at by german planes so that is the conflict for Deryn. but will alek is hiding in this mountain side castle that is only covered by snow the leviathan falls about 2 miles from were Alek is hiding so he gose and try to help the remaining crew. so he goser and brings bandages and medicine to give but then he fiends a boy that is badly hurt in the snow so he gose to help but he wakes and starts to attack him so he puts on a british accent so he stops attacking him.

  5. One of the strong parts in the book is that it tells the story of two people during ww1 one on the other side if the other so that makes the book very interesting. One of its weaknesses is when it switch characters every 2 chapters so it can get confusing on who there talking about. Also another weakness is that it some times goes through the good part like when the leviathan was about to crash it switches back to Alek and his problem. It doesn't tell how Deryn got nocked out or how Mr Rigby was doing during the crash it really sucks or how Dr Barlow survived the crash its just a really bad thing to do to the reader.
